I stood before thousands of life jackets and became silent.
My heart felt heavy with sadness and broken with disbelief.
Hundreds of thousands of life jackets.
Each containing a life and a story.
Looking down at the ground I saw jackets of every size.
For men.
For women.
For children.
And I thought of my friends in camp.
My friends wore these jackets.
And it breaks my heart to think of the pain and fear they endured.
The pain that I have seen in their eyes.
The stories I have heard.
The videos I have seen.
The reasons why each of them left.
The life they left behind.
The sadness and anger they feel as they wait.
It is breaking my heart.
So pray. Pray for the people who have worn these jackets. Pray for the people who died trying to make it across the water. Pray for their families. Pray for the people who will get on the boats in the future. Pray for their safety. Continue to pray for the people in camp.
