Hello friends!
I wanted to share a little update about my first couple weeks. First, I wanted to explain why I haven’t posted any photos or updates on Facebook, Instagram etc. We are here only three months and there is so much to learn. The organization wanted us to stay off any social media as to not distract us from the things we are learning. I totally agree, although it’s hard to not see what all my friends are doing out in the world. I check my email and my Facebook messenger so please share any news or prayer requests with me via Facebook messenger or email ( [email protected] ). I would love to read your blogs, pray for you, see photos etc but I just won’t be able to do it through social media.
Anyways, I have been gone three weeks now. I spent a week in Athens, Greece. That was such a blessing to see friends and get readjusted to the time change before heading to Cyprus. After Greece I spent a week in Southern Cyprus ( Greek side) attending a Gathering with the organization I am serving and learning with. For one week we got to worship three times a day, hear from other missionaries around the world, and get acquainted with fellow classmates whom I’ll be spending the next three months with. We listened to stories of missionaries in India, Syria, Jordan and many other countries in the Middle East.
Now, we are currently in northern Cyprus ( Turkish side). We all live in a beautiful home with beautiful flowers and beautiful sunsets. It’s an island so the sea is near by but this also means our water usage is limited. The homes are beautiful but also made of stone so very cold at night. Down the street is a friendly, inexpensive place to eat. We have become friends with them and each day we wave and say hi and usually stop for freshly baked bread.
We are here for a couple more weeks learning about the culture, people etc.
Prayer requests:
– against any sickness or allergies. My allergies have been terrible since we got here.
– Intentionality with my team. There is mainly girls and three couples ( one with a two year old). It’s such a blessing to have a little one around and I pray that we all get to know one another well in the next three months.
– For the people we encounter, such as the nice men who provide us with freshly baked naan bread down the street at the restaurant.
– Safety for our team.
– My sister, who just started her new job in Georgia.
– My other sister who is about to have another child this week! Yayayyayay! Also please be praying for safety throughout the entire delivery.
– My aunt, whom I miss a lot!
– Fundraising. While here in Cyprus I pay for food, the place we’re staying at and tuition. Once we start to venture to new locations I will need to raise money for flights, hotels and food for our last 6 weeks. I would greatly appreciate all prayers and if you feel led to donate you can do so at: https://www.youcaring.com/ashleighkincade-971788
Okay, this is all ( for now). If you’d like to know anything else, have any questions etc. just message me via messenger or email.
much love,
Ashleigh
